Il Comune di Brenzone sul Garda comprende 16 frazioni, situate in parte sulle spiagge del Lago di Garda (Castelletto, Marniga, Magugnano, Porto, Assenza) e in parte sulle pendici del Monte Baldo (Biaza, Fasor, Boccino, Venzo, Castello, Zignago, Borago, Pozzo Sommavilla). Più in alto incontriamo Campo caratteristico borgo medievale oramai disabitato, luogo pieno di magia e incanto, fino ad arrivare a Prada in montagna. L’origine del nome “Brenzone” è alquanto incerta. Una delle ipotesi più note è quella che la fa derivare dal nome dei Brenni, una tribù germanica che si insediò sul Monte Baldo, da cui scendeva verso il lago per saccheggiare e compiere atti di vandalismo. Dopo di loro i Romani, lasciarono fondamentali testimonianze nel territorio. L’esempio più importante è il ritrovamento, avvenuto nel 2004, delle fondamenta di una villa romana presso la chiesa di San Zeno a Castelletto, finora unico esempio di “residenza lacustre” scavato sulle sponde orientali del Garda. I primi documenti che dimostrano una propria identità di Brenzone sul Garda risalgono alla seconda metà del XII secolo, periodo in cui sorsero e si svilupparono i Comuni. Durante il periodo medioevale, Brenzone sul Garda e tutta l’area gardesana passarono sotto varie dominazioni signorili: scaligera, viscontea, carrarese fino ad arrivare alla Repubblica di Venezia. In questo periodo Brenzone sul Garda vide la nascita ed il consolidamento di alcune importanti

famiglie proprietarie terriere. Tra tutte spicca la famiglia dei Brenzoni “dal Lion”, il cui stemma è stato adottato come simbolo anche dall’amministrazione locale. Nell’Ottocento e fino ai primi decenni del Novecento non essendoci turismo, l’economia di Brenzone sul Garda dipendeva prevalentemente dalle attività legate alla terra tra cui l’allevamento di bachi da seta, la produzione casearia e la coltivazione di olivi, che è rimasta nella tradizione fino ai nostri giorni. È da ricordare anche la produzione di legna e di due importanti prodotti che ne derivano: il carbone e la calce. Per la produzione di quest’ultima, destinata principalmente “all’esportazione” venivano utilizzate delle particolari costruzioni di pietra di forma circolare, le ”calchére”, visibili ancora oggi disseminate sul nostro territorio. Le numerose malghe presenti nel comune indicano certamente una prevalenza di attività montane, ma altre importanti fonti di reddito per gli abitanti di Brenzone sul Garda furono anche la pesca e la navigazione sul lago. Con il completamento della costruzione della strada Gardesana, avvenuto tra il 1929 e il 1933, si verificò una vera e propria “rivoluzione” per ciò che riguarda l’economia di Brenzone sul Garda e di tutta la riviera gardesana: l’avvento del turismo, che ha portato, soprattutto dopo la fine della Seconda Guerra Mondiale, un cambiamento radicale secondo tutti i punti di vista.

not very clear. One of the most popular hypothesis is that it derives from the name of a Germanic tribe called “Brenni”, that resided in the Monte Baldo area in prehistoric times. They were followed by the arrival of the Roman empire, whose archeologic testimonies were discovered over the years in our territory. The most important example is the Roman villa found, in 2004, near the medieval church of St. Zeno in Castelletto.
Brenzone sul Garda setzt sich aus sechzehn größeren und kleineren Weilern zusammen, in denen noch ein Leben “auf Menschenmaß” möglich ist. Längs der Küste des Gardasees liegen Castelletto, Magugnano (Sitz des Rathauses), Porto und Assenza. Ein Stück weiter oben, auf den ersten Hügelerhebungen, befinden sich hingegen Biaza, Fasor, Marniga. Noch weiter oben ein faszinierender mittelalterlicher Weiler: Campo, dann Boccino, Venzo, Castello, Zignago, Borago, Pozzo und Sommavilla und im Gerbirge Prada. Die Herkunft des Namens „Brenzone“ ist nicht ganz klar. Eine der beliebtesten Hypothesen ist, dass der Name sich aus dem Namen Brenni ableitet, einem germanischen Volk, das sich am Monte Baldo niederließ, um am See Raubzüge zu verüben. Wichtiges Beispiel ist eine Ausgrabung einer Villa Romana (2004) bei der Kirche von San Zeno von Castelletto, bis jetzt einziges Beispiel von „Residenza lacustre“ auf der östlichen Gardaseeseite. Im Mittelalter wurden Brenzone sul Garda und die Gardaseegebiete von verschiedenen Familien Scaligeri, Visconti, Carraresi - bis zur Republik von Venedig beherrscht. Vom 18. bis zum Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts gab es keinen Tourismus, Brenzone sul Garda hing von der Landwirtschaft und Fischerei ab. Natürlich kam an erster Stelle die hauseigene Landwirtschaft. Die Olivenernte ist bis heute geblieben, anders als die 8
Seidenraupenproduktion, die damals eine wichtige Bedeutung hatte. Zwischen 1929 und 1933 wurde die GardesanaHauptstraße gebaut, und damit kam die große Veränderung für die Entwicklung und die Wirtschaft von Brenzone sul Garda und den Gardasee. Mit dem Tourismus, der vor allem nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg begann, hat sich hier alles radikal verändert.

During the Middle Ages, Brenzone sul Garda and all the Garda area were dominated by the houses of Scaligeri, Visconti, Carrara and finally by Venice and its Republic. Since tourism did not exist in Brenzone sul Garda in the 1800s and early 1900s, the economy of the town depended mainly on agricultural activities such as the breeding of silk worms, the production of dairy products and the cultivation of olive trees (an activity which is still part of our tradition today). The completion of the “Gardesana”, the road constructed between 1929 and 1933 on the shores of Lake Garda, brought with it a radical economic revolution for Brenzone sul Garda. The arrival of tourism, especially after the 2nd World War, has triggered a profoundly dynamic evolution of events which has changed the way of life here.

Piazza San Nicola Assenza di Brenzone
La chiesa di San Nicola ad Assenza sorse intorno ai secoli XI-XII come espressione del culto per il santo vescovo di Mira, invocato contro le insidie delle acque, ed è già documentata tra le cappelle della pieve di Malcesine in un atto del 1159 a opera del pontefice Adriano IV. L’aspetto di quella chiesa doveva essere assai diverso dall’attuale: dovette essere allungata in direzione est e, nel corso del secolo XV, in direzione ovest, ampliandola poi sul lato sud in linea con lo sporgere del campanile. La facciata venne poi ristrutturata in età moderna con finestra e porta in stile neogotico. L’interno, segnato dai due arconi gotici quattrocenteschi, è un’unica navata che si restringe all’altezza del campanile in coro rettangolare.
Qui sta l’altare maggiore e la bella pala cinquecentesca; un secondo altare, eretto nel Settecento in onore di san Francesco, è addossato sulla parete di meridione. Lungo la parete di settentrione un piccolo ingresso laterale, d’epoca romanica, conduceva al piccolo cimitero contiguo. Il tetto della navata è a capriate scoperte, mentre il coro è coperto da una doppia volta a crociera con vele gotiche.

Die San Nicola Kirche (der Hl. Nikolaus, Schutzpatron der Fischer und Seeleute) in Assenza stammt etwa aus dem 11. -12. Jh. In ihrer ursprünglichen einschiffigen Form mit halb kreisförmiger Apsis und einfacher Fassade dürfte sie den anderen Kapellen im Gardaseegebiet ähnlich gewesen sein. Später wurde dann der Altarraum gegen Osten verlängert und im Lauf des 15. Jh der Innenraum in westlicher und dem Grundriss des Kirchturms entsprechend auch in südlicher Richtung erweitert. Die Fassade wurde in jüngerer Zeit mit Fenster und Eingangsportal im neugotischen Stil umstrukturiert. Der einschiffige Innenraum mit seinen beiden gotischen Bögen aus dem 15. Jh. verjüngt sich

St. Nicholas church in Assenza was first built probably in the 11th or early 12th century in honour of the holy bishop of Mira, protector of seafarers. The shape of the original chapel must have been quite different from what we see today. We can infer that it must have been with a hut-like façade, a single nave and a semicircular apse. The chapel was first enlarged towards the east and in the course of the 15th century also the west and the southward in line with the bell tower. In more recent times to the façade was given the present appearance with a door and a window in newGothic style. The interior is characterized by two 14th century Gothic arches and a single nave, which narrows towards the bell tower and ends into a rectangular choir area with the main altar at the center. The nave’s ceiling in rein forced with open trusses while a double ribbed vault with Gothic sails protects the choir area. The church inner walls are decorated with late 12th and 13th century frescoes. 23

Il Museo è allestito nella casa natale della Beata Madre Maria Domenica Mantovani, cofondatrice con il Beato Giuseppe Nascimbeni, dell’Istituto “Piccole Suore della Sacra Famiglia”. Nel centro storico di Castelletto, l’edificio rappresenta un’interessante testimonianza dell’architettura propria della zona costiera dell’alto lago di Garda. L’interno, arredato con suppellettili di fine Ottocento e inizi del Novecento, riproduce una tipica abitazione del tempo, e conserva utensili e attrezzi delle attività caratteristiche del luogo: pesca, ulivicoltura, pastorizia, bachicoltura.
VolkskundeMUSEUM Im Geburtshaus der Seligen Madre Maria Domenica Mantovani wurde das Volkskundemuseum eingerichtet. Das Gebäude im historischen Zentrum von Castelletto stellt ein interessantes Zeugnis der hiesigen Architektur dieser Uferzone des oberen Gardasees dar. Das Innere, mit Gerätschaften Ende des 19., Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts ausgestattet, stellt eine typische Wo hnung jener Zeit dar und beherbergt charakteristische Utensilien und Arbeitsgeräte wie Fischerei, Olivenanbau, Viehzucht und Seidenraupenzucht.
ETNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM The museum is located in the house where the Blessed Mother Maria Domenica Mantovani was born. Situated in the historical centre of Castelletto, the building represents an interesting testimonial of the architectural style common to the shores of upper Lake Garda. The interior of the house has been faithfully reproduced with furnishings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and enriched with the traditional utensils and tools employed in the many agricultural activities which characterized the area, such as fishing, cultivating olives, raising livestock and sericulture.

Via Vespucci Castelletto di Brenzone La chiesa, sorta sulle rovine di una villa romana, ha origini assai antiche, anche se l’edificio, che ora ammiriamo nelle inconfondibili forme romaniche, risale ai secoli XI - XII e XIII. Probabilmente fu la chiesa principale del territorio di Brenzone sul Garda, surrogata poi dalla chiesa di San Giovanni Battista, a inizio ‘400. La struttura dell’edificio attuale, alquanto bizzarra, è il risultato di momenti costruttivi diversi. Ad una prima fase, forse preromanica, andrebbero assegnate le murature della parete laterale di meridione e di quella orientale; ad una seconda, nel corso del secolo XII, la parete di settentrione, le absidi e la suddivisione interna in due navate; ad una terza, nel secolo XIII, l’inserimento della torre campanaria ed il conseguente rifacimento della facciata. La facciata mostra così un unico spiovente, ma in realtà un secondo, quello della navata minore, è coperto dalla massiccia torre campanaria. Splendidi affreschi tardo romanici d’impronta bizantina si trovano sulle pareti delle navate e lungo il giro dell’abside maggiore.

Die Kirche (11., 12. u. 13. Jd.), die wir heute in ihren romanischen Formen bewundern, ist eigentlich älteren Ursprungs und wurde auf den Resten einer römischen Villa errichtet. Wahrscheinlich war San Zeno einst Hauptkirche im Gebiet von Brenzone sul Garda, bevor San Giovanni Battista in Magugnago Anfang des 15. Jh. als autonome Pfarrkirche an ihre Stelle trat. Die heutige etwas ungewöhnliche Struktur des Gebäudes ist das Resultat verschiedener Bauabschnitte. Die erste, wahrscheinlich präromanische Phase wird der nördlichen Seitenwand sowie dem angrenzenden, gegen Osten gerichteten Mauerwerk zugeordnet.
This church is probably very ancient, but the Romanesque structure we now admire dates back to the 11th -12th and 13th century. This was the main church for the entire Brenzone sul Garda territory until the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Magugnano replaced it. The present building is the result of three different construction phases: first the construction of the southern and eastern walls; then the building of the apses, the two naves, and the northern wall during the 12th century and finally the bell tower and the reconstruction of the façade in the 13th century. On the inside walls there are some beautiful late Romanesque frescoes with obvious Byzantine influences.

In einer zweiten Phase im Verlauf des 12. J . wurde die Kirche dann nach Süden erweitert, und es entstanden sowohl die heutige südliche Seitenwand wie auch die drei östlichen Apsiden; der Innenraum wurde in zwei ungleiche Schiffe unterteilt. Im dritten Bauabschnitt zu Beginn des 13. Jh integrierte man den Kirchturm in das Bauwerk und gestaltete die Fassade neu.

So ist von vorne nur eine Dachfläche zu sehen, die kleinere über dem Seitenschiff wird durch den wuchtigen Glockenturm verdeckt. Wunderschöne spätromanische byzantinische Fresken sind an den Wänden der Seitenschiffe und entlang der Runde der Hauptapsis zu sehen.

Nel 2004, durante i lavori di ampliamento del cimitero di Castelletto di Brenzone sul Garda, è emerso un eccezionale complesso di strutture murarie pertinenti ad una villa romana.

La chiesa si imposta sulle strutture della villa, riutilizzandone elementi costruttivi e decorativi. I due capitelli di marmo bianco databili al I secolo d.C. e reimpiegati nel colonnato sono certamente pertinenti al sottostante complesso di età romana.

Die Villa aus der römischen Epoche wurde im Jahr 2004 im Laufe von Erweiterungsarbeiten des Friedhofes in Castelletto entdeckt. Zum Vorschein kam damals eine außergewöhnliche Anlage mit Mauerwerk. Die römische Villa von Castelletto ist die einzige ihrer Art am Ostufer des Gardasees.
La villa di Castelletto è l’unica villa romana finora scavata sulle sponde orientali del Garda. La straordinaria conservazione delle murature la connotano indubbiamente come uno dei più significativi esempi di strutture residenziali di età romana finora messi in luce nell’attuale territorio veneto.
Auf Grund des sehr gut erhaltenen Mauerwerks zählt die Villa zu einer der wichtigsten Wohnanlagen aus römischer Zeit, die bisher auf Venetischem Gebiet entdeckt wurden. Die Villa kann als „SeeResidenz“ bezeichnet werden. Sie ist über mehrere zum See hin abfallende Terrassen gebaut.
La villa, definibile di tipo “residenziale lacustre”, era articolata su più terrazze degradanti verso il lago. La parte residenziale del complesso, della quale è stato recentemente messo in luce un ambiente pavimentato a mosaico e con impianto di riscaldamento ad hypocaustum, doveva estendersi all’area attualmente occupata dal cimitero. I vani finora messi in luce mostrano pavimenti a quote diverse, dislocati su due terrazze principali: la presenza di un ambulacro voltato (visibile dietro l’edificio cimiteriale degli anni ’80 del secolo scorso) suggerisce l’esistenza di un piano più alto, oggi non più rintracciabile.

Durch die Mauerschichten wird bestätigt, dass es sich bei dem Gebäude um ein recht altes Gebäude handelt. Die bei den Ausgrabungen freigelegten Mauern sind Teil der letzten Nutzungsphase des Gebäudes und werden auf die Zeit zwischen der Spätantike und dem hohen Mittelalterm datiert.

The villa of Roman epoch was discovered in 2004. During the excavations for the enlargement of Castelletto’s cemetery, an exceptional complex of building structures came to light. We can define the
Roman villa of Castelletto as unique in its category, so far excavated on the eastern shore of Garda lake. The really well-maintained villa is moreover one of the best example of Roman residential structure on the Veneto region. The building, one of the so-called “lake houses”, was structured on several terraces scenically sloping to the lake. Until now, the excavated rooms show floors on different levels, situated on two main terraces. The finding of a vaulting corridor suggests the presence of a superior floor, even if no more traceable. Observing the building stratifications it is clear that the structure has been more recently used (probably between Late and High Middle Ages). The nave’s ceiling in rein forced with open trusses while a double ribbed vault with Gothic sails protects the choir area. The church inner walls are decorated with late 12th and 13th century frescoes.

Il 17 aprile 1988 veniva beatificato dal Santo Padre Giovanni Paolo II, un nostro concittadino, il sacerdote Giuseppe Nascimbeni, fondatore delle “Piccole Suore della Sacra Famiglia”. Madre Maria Domenica Mantovani, cofondatrice delle Piccole Suore della Sacra Famiglia (18621934) è stata proclamata Beata dal Papa Giovanni Paolo II il 27 aprile 2003 a Roma. A testimonianza della forte fede radicata nella nostra gente, segnaliamo anche don Francesco Angeleri (1821-1892), profondo conoscitore e difensore del pensiero filosofico rosminiano.

Nel 1965 Castelletto divenne improvvisamente famoso grazie al ritrovamento di un masso roccioso di circa 2 mc con incisioni rupestri, avvenuto durante la costruzione di una casa. Queste incisioni risalgono a circa 4.550 anni fa, indicandoci l’uso di utensili ed armi in bronzo e l’importanza religiosa del simbolo del sole. In altre parole, erano già portatori dell’estesa cultura mediterranea. La “Pietra di Castelletto” è ora custodita nel Municipio di Brenzone sul Garda, a Magugnano. Unico caso in europa al di fuori dell’area preistorica della Valcamonica con tale particolare modalità di incisione.
DER STEIN VON CASTELLETTO
Archiologische Ausgrabungsstätte 1965 machte Castelletto sehr von sich reden. Man fand beim Hausbau einen fast 2 Quadratmeter großen Felsblock, der mit hieroglyphischen Felseinritzungen bedeckt war.
Es war die erste authentische Mitteilung der Bevölkerung an die Nachwelt, es war eine Nachricht von vor 4500 Jahren. Sie berichtet, dass die Bewohner hier am See schon ihre Bronzespeere, Schwerter und Äxte hatten und dass die Sonne eine große Rolle in ihrer Religion spielte. Heute ist der “Stein von Castelletto” im Gemeindehaus von Brenzone in Magugnano zu bestaunen.
THE STONE OF CASTELLETTO Archaeological site
In 1965, Castelletto was very much in the news. While building a new house, the workers excavated a massive rock which was covered with mysterious incisions. The incisions, dated from the years 2550 b.C., are the first authentic message of the inhabitants of Castelletto. It reports that they had already weapons in brass and that the sun played an important role in their religion. Nowadays you can admire the “Stone of Castelletto” in the town hall of Brenzone sul Garda, in Magugnano.

Non si conoscono con certezza le origini della chiesa di Sant’Antonio Abate, nella contrada di Biaza. Un affresco sulla parete esterna, databile intorno alla seconda metà del ‘300 o tuttalpiù al primo ‘400, testimonia la presenza della chiesa almeno a partire da quel periodo. Essa, come testimonierebbe pure la presenza del piccolo cimitero, dovette servire alle esigenze spirituali della gente di Biaza. L’edificio che ora vediamo è sostanzialmente l’originale, edificato ancora secondo i criteri dell’architettura romanica: la facciata orientata verso ovest, il campanile coevo che s’erge di fianco, con ampie monofore a dar luce alla cella campanaria. L’interno propone una tozza navata che conduce all’abside a pianta semicircolare e all’unico altare ed è decorato da pitture del ‘400 e dei primi anni del ‘500.
SANT’ANTONIO A BIAZA Mittelalterliche Kirche
Einige Legenden berichten zwar von einer bereits im Hochmittelalter existierenden Burgkapelle in Biaza, Dokumente über die Entstehungsgeschichte der Sant‘Antoniokapelle kennt man aber bisher noch nicht. Immerhin hat man an Hand des Christophorusfreskos an der südlichen Außenwand, das in die zweite Hälfte des 14. Jh und der ersten Hälfte des 15. Jh datiert wird, einen etwaigen Anhaltspunkt über das Alter der kleinen Kirche.

Offenbar diente sie der Gemeinde von Biaza und unterstand der Pfarrkirche von Brenzone sul Garda. Die wesentlichen Kriterien des romanischen Baustils sind auch heute noch an der Kirche unverfälscht erkennbar. Da sie aber auf einem steilen Felsvorsprung erbaut wurde, befindet sich der Eingang nicht wie üblich an der Westfassade, sondern notwendigerweise an der Südseite neben dem schon erwähnten großen Christophorusfreskos. Rechts neben dem Portal steht der zeitgleich errichtete Campanile mit breiten Einzelbogenfenstern in der Glockenstube. Der Innenraum teilt sich in ein einfaches Kirchenschiff und in die halbkreisförmige Apsis. Dort befinden sich Freskenmalereien aus dem 15. und 16. Jh.
SANT’ANTONIO A BIAZA Medieval Church
Oral tradition places the construction of the church of Saint Anthony the Abbot of Biaza in early medieval times. It was built to serve the spiritual needs of the people living around the military outpost (the little castle). The fresco of Saint Christopher on the exterior dates back either to the second half of the 13th or the beginning of the 14th century. The interior of this Romanesque church is composed of a short nave leading to a semicircular apse and to the only altar of recent construction. It is adorned with some large fragments of frescoes from the 15th and the beginning of the 16th century.

L’esistenza della contrada di Campo viene già segnalata nel 1023, ma nessuna notizia abbiamo in quegli anni della chiesa di San Pietro in Vincoli. Secondo alcuni andrebbe identificata con la cappella dei Santi Simone e Giuda, ricordata in una bolla pontificia del 1159, ma l’ipotesi non è sostenuta né da documenti, né da argomenti plausibili. L’edificio si presenta ora con la facciata interamente rifatta nel Settecento, ma che comunque mantiene l’originale struttura a capanna orientata ad ovest caratteristica insieme all’abside a pianta semicircolare di un’architettura romanica “minore”. L’interno propone un’unica navata che, attraverso l’arco trionfale, conduce alla spoglia mensa dell’altare e all’abside. Una struttura essenziale, impreziosita però dal corredo pittorico che si stende sull’arcata e catino absidali e sulle pareti laterali. Si tratta di affreschi eseguiti nel 1358 dal maestro Giorgio da Riva.

Bereits 1023 wird der Ort Campo in Dokumenten erwähnt, einen konkreten Hinweis auf die Existenz der San Pietro Kirche zu jener Zeit gibt es jedoch nicht. Die Hypothese, sie wäre mit der in einer Papstbulle 1159 genannten Kirche der Heiligen Simone, Giuda und Giovanni identisch, ist ebenso umstritten wie die vom österreichischen Archäologen Martin Bitschnau auf Grund von Maueranalysen vorgezogene Datierung in das 11. Jh. Gebaut 34
ist die Kirche in dem noch weit über das 14. Jh hinaus üblichen ländlich-romanischen Stil, mit einer halbkreisförmigen Apsis und einer einfachen, nach Westen gerichteten Fassade, die allerdings im 18. Jh vollständig erneuert wurde. Der schlichte einschiffige Innenraum mit seiner schmucklosen Mensa erfährt durch die bereits erwähnten faszinierenden Wandmalereien an Seitenwänden und Apsis eine ganz besondere Bereicherung. 1358 wurden sie von Meister Giorgio da Riva geschaffen.

The existence of Campo, as a village, dates back to 1023. Archaeologists recently stated that the building could probably be dated even before the 12th century. The church façade we see today was completely renovated during the 1700s. It retains, however, the original hut-like Romanesque structure facing west. The interior resumes namely the style already defined by the exterior. The essential structure of the interior, a single nave surmounted by a triumphal arch leading to a bare altar and the apse, is enriched by a profusion of paintings and frescos completed in 1358 by the master painter Giorgio da Riva. It unfolds from the arch above and the apse unto the sidewalls.

Accanto alle bellezze naturali, ai piccoli paesetti dall’atmosfera antica, Brenzone sul Garda può offrire al visitatore un’ulteriore rarità: Campo! Di questo posto si parla già in documenti risalenti all’XI secolo. È un luogo quasi abbandonato, a 200 metri sul livello del lago, ai piedi del massiccio del Monte Baldo. Arrivarci in passeggiata sulla vecchia mulattiera un tempo usata per le transumanze, peraltro tutelata come monumento, è già un piacere in sé. Passo dopo passo ci si concede il lusso di dimenticare lo stress della vita moderna. In questa pace straordinaria l’unico traffico sono le pecore al pascolo o piccoli gruppi di artisti che seduti sul prato dipingono i loro acquarelli.
IL BORGO DI CAMPO
Antiker mittelalterlicher Weiler Neben all den Naturschönheiten, den ursprünglichen Dörfern, hat Brenzone sul Garda noch etwas ganz Besonderes zu bieten: Campo! Einen fast verlassenen Ort, 200 m über dem See gelegen, am Fuße des Monte Baldo Massivs. Es gibt Nachweise aus dem 11. Jahrhundert, in denen der Ort bereits erwähnt wird. Schon der Spaziergang über den alten, unter Denkmalschutz gestellten Mauleselweg, über den früher Schafe und andere Tiere getrieben wurden, ist ein Genuss. Es ist ein Weg abseits der Zivilisation. Friedlich ist es hier, wir sehen weidende Schafe und manchmal einzelne Künstlergruppen, die auf den Wiesen an ihren Aquarellen arbeiten.

O semplicemente nuotare nelle acque cristalline e pulite o passeggiare tra i vari borghi caratteristici di Brenzone sul Garda. Il lago di Garda viene considerato una palestra naturale grazie ai suoi venti costanti, l’Ora e il Pelér, che forniscono le condizioni ideali per la pratica degli sport velici. Brenzone sul Garda, con i suoi 8 km di costa, rappresenta un eccellente punto di partenza per tutti gli appassionati di queste discipline sportive, grazie anche ai suoi numerosi circoli, associazioni e scuole. SPORT IN BRENZONE Brenzone sul Garda heißt vor allem Segelsport: die örtlichen Bootsvereine veranstalten bedeutende internationale Regatten. Weit verbreitet ist auch der Surfsport. Auf den Wellen des Sees tanzen im Wind die Segel der Surfliebhaber oder der internationalen Weltmeister, die hier zu Hau40
se sind: zu Recht wird dies für eine der schönsten natürlichen Schulen für Segeln, Surfen und Kitesurfen angesehen. Brenzone sul Garda bedeutet jedoch nicht nur See. Hier gibt es auch Berge. Prada liegt im Herzen des Monte Baldo. Von der Küste führen bis hier hinauf die Pfade, die in den vergangenen Jahrhunderten von Hirten und Holzhauern beschritten wurden: es ist äußerst faszinierend, diesen Pfaden zu folgen und von Oliventerrassen zu den Kastanienbäumen zu gelangen. Sodann kann man mit den Liftanlagen von Prada-Costabella auf die Gipfel hochfahren und von dort aus eine wunderbare Aussicht auf den See genießen. Etwa ein Dutzend Pfade bieten sich zum Wandern, Trekking, Nordic Walking und Mountain-Bike-fahren zwischen dem See und Monte Baldo an.
SPORT IN BRENZONE Brenzone sul Garda above all means sailing: local boating clubs host important international regattas. Sailboats pushed by the winds are steered by enthusiasts or international champions who have their home here: Lake Garda is considered one of the most beautiful natural practice areas for sailing, kitesurfing and windsurfing. Brenzone sul Garda is not only the lake. It’s also the mountain. One of its hamlets, Prada, is located in the heart of Mount Baldo. From the lake shores to the summit there are paths that were travelled in past centuries by shepherds and woodcutters. There are dozens of paths from the lake to Mount Baldo that can be used for hiking, trekking, nordic walking or mountain biking. 41
IL MONTE BALDO
Il Monte Baldo, montagna delle Prealpi venete, si eleva tra il Lago di Garda e la Val Lagarina. La Vetta più alta (cima Valdritta) raggiunge i 2.218 metri. Conosciuto nel passato come “Hortus Europa” (giardino d’Europa) per la sua ricchezza e diversità di specie floreali, il Monte Baldo venne frequentato da naturalisti e botanici famosi. Qui si trovano specie endemiche di fiori chiamate “baldensis” ad indicare che sono state rinvenute per la prima volta sul Monte Baldo e che sono esclusive di questa montagna (orchidee in particolare). Oltre a queste si trovano piante medicinali ed aromatiche. Parecchi sono i sentieri ideali per passeggiate, trekking e nordic walking che da Brenzone sul Garda conducono fino alle cime più alte e ai vari rifugi, raggiungibili anche da Prada.
MONTE BALDO Der Monte Baldo, der parallel zum Etschtal verläuft, begrenzt das Vallagarinatal und auf der andere Seite das Ostufer des Gardasee. Der höchste Gipfel (Cima Valdritta) erreicht eine Höhe von 2.218 Meter. Im Verlauf der klimatischen Entwicklung durch die Jahrtausende entstand auf dem Monte Baldo eine Vielzahl von Pflanzenarten, die diesen Berg so reichlich schmücken. Dadurch wird auch verständlich, warum sich die Botaniker der vergangenen Jahrhunderte so sehr für diese Pflanzenvielfalt begeisterten und ihn den “Garten Europas“ nannten. 42
Viele Pflanzen sind hier endemisch und tragen den Namen „Baldensis“, darunter Orchideen und Heilpflanzen. Es gibt viele Wanderwege, die vom ganzen Gebiet Brenzone sul Garda hinauf bis zu den höchsten Bergspitzen und Berghütten hinaufführen. Es handelt sich um ein wahrhaftiges Paradies in allen Jahreszeiten für Wanderer, Bergsteiger, Paragleiter, Deltaplaner und Mountainbiker.
MONTE BALDO Monte Baldo, also known as “Hortus Europa” (Garden of Europe), owes its fame not only to the wealth of its nature and the singularity and variety of its flora, but also of interest from an anthropic point of view. There are as well many remnants bearing witness to its past history. Forming a long ridge it separates the Adige Valley (Val Lagarina) from Lake Garda. This chain splits up to into a succession of peaks at an average height of 2000 to 2218 metres (Cima Valdritta), giving it a crested appearance. In the course of time various climatic changes occurred, thus allowing different species of plants to establish themselves only here. This is the reason why, many botanists in the last century, discovered some unknown species (approx. 20) called “Baldensis” as part of their name. From the large territory of Brenzone sul Garda, you can enjoy a lot of walks and footpaths from the coast up the the highest peaks.

Partenza dal Municipio di Brenzone sul Garda (Magugnano) in direzione sud attraverso la ciclabile-pedonabile lungolago. Passato Castelletto si prosegue per altri 300 mt dopo il Circolo velico e il cimitero fino a località Pianta. Qui si attraversa la statale e si sale per ca. 2 km lungo la strada asfaltata in direzione San Zeno; prima della località Biaza si imbocca il sentiero in salita sulla destra passando così sopra Biaza e Fasor. Si risale per 200 mt lungo la strada asfaltata e si prende a sinistra il sentiero in direzione Campo-Sommavilla. Il sentiero si sviluppa con veloci saliscendi con un paio di bivi, in corrispondenza dei quali va tenuta la destra fino alla vecchia contrada di Campo (con una sorgente potabile). In corrispondenza della chiesa di Campo si svolta a sinistra attraversando tutta la contrada e scendendo lungo un ciottolato e una ripida discesa asfaltata. Si imbocca il percorso sterrato a destra salendo fino alla chiesa di Boccino e prima di sbucare sull’asfalto a Boccino, si svolta a destra e poi subito a sinistra imboccando uno stretto sentiero fino alla contrada Venzo e di lì a Castello. Da qui si sale verso Prada per 1 km fino al primo tornante (n°20), in corrispondenza del quale si prosegue dritti per lo sterrato in discesa fino a Sommavilla e Assenza. Da qui si percorre il lungolago verso sud rientrando a Magugnano.

Ausgangspunkt ist das Rathaus von Brenzone sul Garda (Magugnano). Von hier aus fährt man den Fuß- und Fahrradweg am See entlang in südliche Richtung. Es geht an Castelletto, dem Segelclub und dem Friedhof vorbei und nach ca. 300 m erreicht man den Ortsteil Pianta. Hier wird die Uferstraße überquert und es geht für ca. 2 km auf der asphaltierten Straße in Richtung San Zeno bergauf. Vor dem Ortsteil Biaza nimmt man rechts den hinaufführenden Weg, der oberhalb von Biaza und Fasor entlang führt. Es geht für weitere 200m auf der asphaltierten Straße bergauf, bevor man links in den Weg nach Campo-Sommavilla einbiegt. Der Weg bietet einige schnelle Auf- und Abfahrten und es gibt einige Gabelungen. Immer sich rechts haltend geht es bis zum idyllischen Weiler Campo (es gibt einen Brunnen mit Trinkwasser). Hier an der Kirche von Campo biegt man nach links ab, durchquert den ganzen Weiler, dann geht es erst einen Kiesweg und anschließend einen steilen asphaltierten Weg hinab. Man biegt rechts in einen nicht geteerten Weg ein und fährt hinab bis zur Kirche von Boccino. Bevor man dort auf die asphaltierte Straße trifft, biegt man rechts und sofort darauf wieder links in einen schmalen Weg ab, der zum Weiler Venzo und von dort aus nach Castello führt. Hier fährt man 1 km in Richtung Prada hinauf bis zur ersten Kehre (Nr.20). Von dort aus geht es einen geraden, nicht geteerten Weg hinab bis nach Sommavilla und Assenza. Um zum Ausgangspunkt zu gelangen, fährt man an der Seepromenade in Richtung Süden bis nach Magugnano entlang.

Before reaching Biasa, take the uphill path on the right which passes above Biasa and Fasor. After another 200 meters on the asphalt, take the path on the left for Campo-Sommavilla. The path is full of rapid ups and downs, and when you come to the forks make sure you always keep right until you come to the small hamlet of Campo (here you’ll find a fresh water spring). At the church turn left and ride through the hamlet, then continue down the cobblestone path to the asphalt. At the bottom keep right and climb to the church in Boccino. Before reaching the asphalt turn right and then immediately left, where you will follow a narrow path to Venzo, and then to Castello. From here climb the road for Prada for 1 km, to the 1st hairpin bend (no.20), then go straight on to the dirt road which will take you to Sommavilla and then to Assenza. From here take the cycle track south again and return to Magugnano.

La partenza è dal Municipio di Brenzone sul Garda (Magugnano), si percorre il lungolago verso nord fino a Porto; si sale alla volta di Castello passando per S. Vito e lungo la vecchia pedonale di Borgo Castellari fino a Castello. Qui inizia la salita di Punta Veleno - con pendenza tra il 15 e il 20% - per 6 km fino al 5° tornante. Passato il 5° tornante, in prossimità di un parcheggio, a sinistra si trova l’attacco del sentiero per Sommavilla. Qui si abbandona quindi l’asfalto e si accede ai prati sottostanti a Malga Zovel. Dopo i primi 500 mt in piano nel prato si scende a sinistra entrando nel bosco dove inizia la mulattiera che si percorre fino a Sommavilla. È una mulattiera di media difficoltà, percorribile con all-mountain o freeride leggero (si sconsigliano le front). Da Sommavilla una ripida pedonabile porta alla chiesa di Assenza e di lì si percorre il lungolago fino a Magugnano.

Ausgangspunkt ist das Rathaus von Brenzone sul Garda (Magugnano). Von dort aus geht es an der Seepromenade entlang in Richtung Norden bis nach Porto. An der Abzweigung nach Castello geht es hinauf, man durchfährt den Ortsteil San Vito und folgt dem alten Schutzweg von Borgo Castellari bis nach Castello.

Punta Veleno und Malga Zovel
Hier beginnt der Anstieg zur Punta Veleno – mit einer Steigung zwischen 15 und 20% - für 6 km bis zur 5. Kehre. Wenn man diese passiert hat, befindet sich, gleich neben dem Parkplatz auf der linken Seite, der Anfang des Weges nach Sommavilla. Hier verläßt man also die asphaltierte Straße und betritt die Weiden der Malga Zovel. Nach 500 m auf dem flachen Land geht es links bergab in den Wald hinein, wo der Saumpfad beginnt, dem man bis nach Sommavilla folgt. Der Saumpfad ist von mittelschwerem Schwierigkeitsgrad, befahrbar mit All-Mountain oder leichten Freeride Bikes (nicht zu empfehlen sind Front Bikes). Von Sommavilla aus geht es einen steilen Schutzweg hinab, der bis zur Kirche von Assenza führt. Ab dort fährt man an der Seepromenade zurück bis nach Magugnano.

Punta Veleno and Malga Zovel
From here, follow Punta Veleno with its 15-20% inclines for 6 km, to the 5th hairpin turn, where you will turn left near the parking lot onto the path which leads to Sommavilla. Leave the asphalt and cross the fields below Malga Zovel for about 500 meters, then go down to your left through the woods until you find the old mule track that will take you down to Sommavilla. This mule track is for intermediate, and we recommend using an all-mountain or light freeride bike (front bikes are not recommended). From Sommavilla it’s a rapid downhill ride to Assenza and then south along the cycle track again, back to Magugnano.

Si parte dal Municipio di Brenzone sul Garda (Magugnano) seguendo il lungolago fino a Porto, si sale a Castello attraverso la ripida pedonale di Borgo Castellari. Dalla piazza di Castello inizia la mitica salita di Punta Veleno che si percorrerà per 7 km attraverso 20 tornanti fino al n°1, punto massimo di quota: 1083 mt. La salita è interamente in asfalto con pendenza dal 15 al 20%, senza pause dall’inizio alla fine, poco frequentata ed estremamente panoramica. Giunti all’ultimo tornante (il n°1), si seguono a sinistra le indicazioni del sentiero n°30 per Malga Brione superando la sbarra. Da qui inizia una strada forestale con buon fondo, veloce e con scorci panoramici mozzafiato sull’intero lago. Dopo circa 10 minuti di discesa si attraversa la Val Mezzana con un passaggio di ca. 100 mt per il quale è necessario prendere le bici a mano. Il percorso prosegue con un single-track molto divertente in costa nel bosco fino a Malga Brione, ottimo punto panoramico di sosta. Il sentiero prosegue sotto la Malga sulla destra e dopo un tratto veloce nel sottobosco battuto giunge a un traliccio elettrico, in corrispondenza del quale si svolta a sinistra. Qui inizia la parte più tecnica del percorso con un single-track con tornanti stretti e buona pendenza; la parte finale è un po’ difficoltosa con un fondo di ghiaione molto smosso. Prima di intersecare la mulattiera che scende da Malga Zovel a quota 325 mt si prende un sentiero sulla destra (fare attenzione al bivio). Con divertenti saliscendi si giunge a Sommavilla e di qui ad Assenza. Percorrendo il lungolago si farà rientro a Maugugnano. 50

ca. 100 m, wo man das Bike schieben muss. Die Strecke geht mit einem sehr unterhaltsamen Single-Trail am Waldesrand bis zur Malga Brione weiter. Diese eignet sich ausgezeichnet für eine Panoramapause. Der Weg führt rechts unterhalb der Malga weiter. Nach einem schnellen Abschnitt im befahrenen Unterholz erreicht man einen Leitungsmast, an dem man nach links abbiegt. Hier beginnt der technischste Teil der Strecke mit einem Single-Trail mit engen Kehren und gutem Gefälle.
Ausgangspunkt ist das Rathaus von Brenzone sul Garda (Magugnano). Man fährt an der Seepromenade entlang bis nach Porto. Dort geht es über den steilen Schutzweg von Borgo Castellari bis nach Castello. An der Piazza von Castello beginnt der sagenhafte Anstieg zur Punta Veleno, dem man für 7 km folgen wird. 20 Serpentinen sind bis zur Kehre Nr. 1 zu passieren, dort erreicht man den höchsten Punkt: 1083 m.
Der letzte Teil der Strecke ist mit einem Untergrund aus sehr beweglichem Geröll etwas mühsam. Bevor man den Saumpfad schneidet, der auf 325 m von der Malga Zovel hinabführt, biegt man rechts in einen Weg ein (Vorsicht an der Gabelung). Mit unterhaltsamen Auf- und Abfahrten erreicht man Sommavilla und von dort aus Assenza. An der Seepromenade entlang kommt man zum Ausgangspunkt nach Brenzone.
Der Anstieg ist vollständig asphaltiert, mit einer Steigung von 15 bis 20% von Anfang bis Ende, ohne Pause, sehr wenig befahren und mit einzigartiger Panoramasicht. An der letzten Kehre angekommen (Nr. 1), übersteigt man eine Schranke und folgt links den Beschreibungen des Weges Nr. 30 zur Malga Brione.

Von dort aus beginnt ein Waldweg mit gutem Untergrund, sehr schnell und mit zum Teil atemberaubenden Panoramen über den gesamten See. Nach circa 10 Minuten Abfahrt durchquert man das Val Mezzana mit einem Teilstück von

The famous 7 km climb of Punta Veleno, with its 20 hairpin turns reaching a maximum altitude of 1083 meters, begins here.
the beginning to the end. At the final hairpin turn (no. 1) go left and follow the directions for path no. 30 towards Malga Brione. This path is well kept and easy to ride, and offers breathtaking views of the entire lake. After about a 10 minute ride downhill, you cross Val Mezzana carrying you bike along a narrow path for about 100 meters. After this you follow an exhilarating single track through the woods to Malga Brione, where you should stop and take a minute to admire the amazing panorama. Continue following the path on the right, below Malga Brione, until you come to a large pylon, where you turn left. This steep, single track with its many narrow hairpin turns is the most difficult part of the itinerary. Take special care near the bottom, where the path is loose and quite pebbly and can be dangerous! On the right there is a small path which leads you onto the mule trail coming down from Malga Zovel, at an altitude of 325 meters. The return trip is full of enjoyable ups and downs until you reach Assenza. From here follow the cycle path back to Magugnano.

Un percorso impegnativo e consigliato ad escursionisti con una buona preparazione fisica. Dalla stazione a monte della Funivia Malcesine Monte Baldo ci si dirige verso sud e si rimane sempre sul sentiero che prosegue dritto. Dopo pochi metri in discesa inizia la prima salita lungo la sciovia Pozza della Stella e che in circa 3 km porta a Cima Pozzette. Questo tratto è molto panoramico e si ha una visione a 360gradi sia sul Lago di Garda che su tutte le montagne circostanti. Da Cima Pozzette si prosegue sempre dritti e in quota passando per Cima del Longino. Da qua inizia a cambiare il paesaggio e ci si sposta sul versante est fino a raggiungere Cima Valdritta. Poco prima di arrivare a Cima Valdritta trovate un breve tratto attrezzato. Da Cima Valdritta in un’altra ora di cammino circa si arriva al Telegrafo. Il Rifugio Telegrafo “Gateano Barana”, si trova poco più sotto di Cima Telegrafo ed è gestito dal 2013 dai ragazzi di Equipe Natura. Presso la struttura si trova sia un servizio di ristorazione a base di prodotti tipici che di alloggio in camerate con bagno in comune. Il rifugio è chiuso d’inverno Dal rifugio in altre 3 ore di cammino si scende dal sentiero 654 che porta sulla strada Val Troavi, sopra a Malga Zovel. Per chi ha la possibilità suggeriamo di organizzarsi con mezzi propri e di lasciare la macchina il giorno prima.

Von der Monte Baldo-Seilbahn nehmt ihr den Weg nach Süden. Nach ein paar Metern bergab, trefft ihr auf den ersten Pfad bergauf, der entlang der Pozza della Stella verläuft und euch nach etwa 3km zum Cima Pozzette bringt. Diese Route bietet ein paar großartige Ausblicke – 360 Grad – über den Gardasee und alle angrenzenden Bergketten. Vom Cima Pozzette lauft ihr weiter und erreicht als nächstes den Cima del Longino. Ab hier verändert sich die Umgebung etwas. Ihr wandert entlang der Osthänge bis ihr zum Cima Valdritta kommt. Kurz bevor ihr den Cima Valdritta erreicht, trefft ihr auf ein kurzes Stück, das als Klettersteig ausgestattet ist. Vom hier aus führt eine einstündige Wanderung zum Punta Telegrafo. Direkt unterhalb liegt eine Berghütte. Das Refugio Telegrafo „Gaetano Barana“ wird seit dem Jahr 2013 von Mitgliedern des Equipe Natura geführt. Das Restaurant bietet lokale Produkte an und ihr könnt dort in gemischten Schlafräumen übernachten. Im Winter ist die Hütte geschlossen.
From the cable car station on Monte Baldo, go south staying on the path. After a few metres going downhill you will find the first uphill along the Pozza della Stella which takes you after 3km to Cima Pozzettte. This path has some great views 360 degrees over Lake Garda and all the surrounding mountain areas. From Cima Pozzette carry on and you will next come to Cima del Longino. From here the surroundings start to change and you go along the east slopes until you get to Cima Valdritta. Just before you get to Cima Valdritta, you will find a short piece that is fitted out for Via Ferratta. From Cima Valdritta it takes an hour’s walking to get to Telegrafo. The Rifugio is situated just under the Cima Telegrafo peak. The Rifugio Telegrafo “Gaetano Barana” has been run since 2013 by people from Equipe Natura. Here you will find a restaurant which uses local products and you will stay in rooms with shared bathrooms. The shelter is closed during the winter.
Von der Hütte steigt mann in 3 Stunden auf dem Weg 654 der uns auf die Strasse vom Val Trovai bringt, über Malga Zovel. Wer die Möglichkeit hat, sollte sein Auto schon einen Tag vorher nach oben bringen.

Un percorso medio/difficile che porta a Cima Telegrafo partendo dalla strada Val Trovai/Punta Veleno. Si sale il sentiero CAI 654 passando in ambienti selvaggi e poco frequentati. Si prosegue a piedi lungo la strada asfaltata fino a trovare l’inizio del sentiero 654 (indicazioni per Telegrafo e ferrata delle Taccole). Si segue il sentiero fino ad arrivare su una strada bianca in un bosco di faggi. Si arriva a una radura con una pozza d’alpeggio, trecento metri dopo, prendete il sentiero sulla curva a destra che rientra nel bosco dove il sentiero diventa una traccia escursionistica single track. (Fate attenzione a non proseguire lungo la strada forestale fin sotto la parete di roccia che è poco distante da lì). Si arriva al bivio con indicazioni a sinistra per il Forcelin. Si prosegue a destra e si continua a salire per altre 2 ore e mezza circa, seguendo le indicazioni per il Telegrafo. Il percorso si alterna ora tra ghiaioni e sentiero con punti panoramici verso il basso Garda, i valloni, il circolo glaciale e la Vetta delle Buse. Al bivio con indicazioni per Baito Buse e Turri, sentiero 55, tenete la sinistra rimanendo sul sentiero 654 e subito dopo si apre l’anfiteatro sotto la Cima Telegrafo, con i prati brulli tipici di quella quota. Continuate a salire fino ad arrivare al rifugio che lo vedete sempre davanti a voi. Cima Telegrafo si trova poco sopra l’omonimo rifugio. Si sale prendendo il sentiero subito dietro il rifugio.

Eine mittlere bis schwierige Strecke, die euch von der Val Trovai / Punta Veleno-Straße bis zum Cima Telegrafo bringt. Ihr geht den CAI-Weg 654 hinauf, durch unberührte Natur und mit kaum anderen Leuten. Geht die Teerstraße entlang bis ihr den Anfang von Weg 654 mit der Beschilderung nach Telegrafo und der Taccole Ferrata findet. Folgt dem Weg bis ihr an eine unbefestigte Straße in einem Buchenwald kommt. Ihr kommt an eine Lichtung mit einem Brunnen und 300m weiter nehmt ihr an der Ecke den Weg zur Rechten, welcher zurück in den Wald führt, wo der Weg zu einem Trampelpfad wird (passt auf, nicht den nahe gelegenen Waldweg unter der Felswand zu nehmen).
A medium/difficult route that takes you to Cima Telegrafo leaving from the Val Trovai/Punta Veleno road. You go up along CAI path 654 through unspoilt nature where there are few people.
Ihr kommt an eine Gabelung der Straße mit Beschilderung links nach Forcelin. Haltet euch weiter rechts und dann bergauf für weitere 2,5 Stunden, den Schildern nach Telegrafo folgend. Die Strecke wechselt zwischen Schotterweg und unbefestigter Straße mit Panorama-Aussichten über den unteren Gardasee, die Täler, den Gletscherkreis und den Vetta della Buse. An der Gabelung mit Schildern nach Baito Buse und Turri, Weg 55, haltet euch links und bleibt auf dem Weg 654 immer geradeaus, bis sich das Amphitheater unter dem Cima Telegrafo öffnet, mit den für diese Region typischen Alpenwiesen. Geht weiter bergauf bis ihr zur Hütte kommt, die ihr während des Anstiegs vor euch seht. Cima Telegrafo liegt genau über der Hütte desselben Namens. Geht den Pfad hinter der Hütte hoch.
You come to a fork in the road signed to the left to Forcelin. Keep going right and go uphill for another 2 and a half hours, following signs to Telegrafo. The route goes between a gravel path and rough track with panoramic views over the lower Lake Garda, the valleys, the glacial circle and the Vetta della Buse. At the fork with signs for Baito Buse and Turri, path no. 55, keep left staying on path no. 654 and straight away the amphpitheatre under Cima Telegrafo opens out with the alpine pastures typical of this region.

Walk along the tarmac road until you find the start of path 654 signed to Telegrafo and the Taccole ferrata. Follow the path until you get to a rough road in the beech wood. You come to a clearing with a well and, 300m afterwards take the path at the corner on the right which goes back into the woods where the track becomes a single track path (take care not to take the forest track under the rock wall which is close by).
Carry on uphill until you get to the Refuge that you see in front of you during the ascent. Cima Telegrafo is just above the Refuge of the same name. Go up taking the path that is behind the Refuge.

Si parte da Castelletto di Brenzone, si sale nel centro storico del paese e si continua dritti in salita fino ad arrivare a Biaza. Da Biaza parte il sentiero 655, prima cementato, poi su mulattiera che porta fino a Prada. Si sale, si attraversa la strada principale che porta a San Zeno di Montagna e si continua su mulattiera fino a Cà Vicari. Qua svoltate a destra su un tratto in pianura, si passa per Località Fontana Coperta e si prende la sinistra ricominciando a salire su mulattiera fino ad arrivare a Le Cà. Si attraversa la piccola località e all’incrocio con il sentiero si prosegue ancora dritti, sempre in salita, prima su mulattiera e poi sentiero, all’interno di un bel bosco di Castagni. Si arriva a Prada Alta, poco più a nord degli impianti di Prada/Costabella, si cammina verso sud sulla strada principale per circa 2 km fino ad arrivare al Ristorante La Palazzina di Prada. Si svolta a destra e arrivate alla piccola chiesa romanica di San Bartolomeo. Prendete il sentiero in pianura a destra, direzione nord, sotto la chiesetta. Vi aspetta un bel tratto nel bosco. Al bivio proseguite sinistra finché non vi ritrovate alla Località Le Cà dove siete passati salendo. Si ripassa per Località Fontana Coperta e Cà Vicari ma invece che scendere a sinistra (da dove siete saliti) si prosegue dritti per Campo. Si continua a scendere fino al bel borgo di Campo.. Dalla fontana di Campo, che si trova subito dopo la chiesa, prendete il sentiero con indicazioni per Castelletto. Continuate a scendere, al bivio tenete destra e continuate a scendere fino ad arrivare a Castelletto di Brenzone. 60
From castelletto to prada Vom Castelletto di Brenzone ausgehend macht ihr euch aus der historischen Stadtmitte auf Richtung Norden und bleibt auf diesem Weg, bis ihr Biaza erreicht. Dort beginnt die Route 655, halb aus Beton und halb aus Maultierpfad bestehend, die nach Prada führt. Geht hinauf und überquert dabei die Straße, die nach San Zeno di Montagna führt, und nehmt dann den Maultierpfad bis Cà Vicari. An der flachen Strecke biegt ihr rechts ab und geht durch die Località Fontana Coperta. Biegt links ab, wenn ihr wieder auf dem Maultierpfad hochgeht, um nach Le Cà zu gelangen. Spaziert durch diese kleine Bauernschaft hindurch und geht an der Kreuzung mit dem Pfad geradeaus weiter hoch, mitten durch einen schönen Kastanienwald. So kommt ihr in Prada Alta, ein bisschen nördlich von Prada/Costabella, an. Geht
auf der Hauptstraße mindestens 2km Richtung Süden, bis ihr beim Restaurant “La Palazzina di Prada” ankommt. Dort biegt ihr rechts ab, um die kleine romanische Kirche direkt vor euch zu finden. Von der Ebene aus nehmt ihr den Pfad gleich unter der kleinen Kirche nach rechts, Richtung Norden. Ein Teil des Weges verläuft durch einen Wald. Wenn ihr die Kreuzung erreicht, geht weiter nach links, bis nach Località Le Cà, wo ihr bereits auf dem Aufstieg vorbeigekommen seid. Geht weiter durch Località Le Cà und Cà Vicari, aber nehmt dieses Mal, anstelle des Weges nach unten links (wie ihr es beim Aufstieg getan habt), den Weg weiter nach Campo. Vom Brunnen aus, der sich gleich hinter der kleinen Kirche in Campo befindet, nehmt, den Straßenschildern folgend, den Pfad nach Castelletto. Geht den ganzen Weg herunter, um an der Kreuzung rechts abzubiegen und dem Weg bis Castelleto di Brenzone zu folgen. Müde aber glücklich werdet ihr bestimmt beschließen, hier noch einmal herzukommen!

There starts Route 655, half on concrete and half on mule track leading you to Prada.Go up, crossing the main road leading to San Zeno di Montagna and then take the mule track until Cà Vicari. Turn right on a flat stretch, pass through
Località Fontana Coperta and then turn left while starting to go up on a mule track to get to Le Cà. Pass through this small hamlet and , at the crossing with the path, keep on going ahead, rising, inside a beautiful chestnut wood. You will get to Prada Alta, a bit further north from Prada/Costabella, walk southwards on the main road for at least 2 km until you get to “La Palazzina di Prada” restaurant. Turn right to find the small Romanesque church of Saint Bartholomew just in front of you. Take the path in the plain on the right, northwards, just below the little church. You will find a section of the track in the wood. When you reach the junction continue on the left until Località Le Cà, a place you’ve met while going up. Pass through Località Fontana Coperta and Cà Vicari but, this time, instead of going down on your left (as you did when going up) keep going ahead to Campo. From the fountain located just after the church in Campo, take the path for Castelletto following the road signs. Keep going down and, at the junction turn right, continue till you get to Castelleto di Brenzone.stay in rooms with shared bathrooms. The shelter is closed during the winter.

Un itinerario facile, alla portata di tutti, lungo le mulattiere e i sentieri di Brenzone sul Garda. Si parte da Castello, si sale fino a S.Antonio delle Pontare, si scende e risale verso il conosciuto borgo di Campo e si ritorna a Castello passando per Marniga. Si parte da Castello e si inizia subito a salire lungo la stradina a sinistra delle chiesa. Si tiene la sinistra e si continua a salire su mulattiera per circa 45 minuti passando per Cà Perotti. Questo primo tratto è abbastanza pendente ed è il più impegnativo di tutto il percorso. Arrivati a S. Antonio delle Pontare si scende a destra subito sotto la chiesetta seguendo le indicazioni per Campo. Finita la discesa si risale a sinistra sempre su mulattiera verso Campo. La salita è breve e poco impegnativa. Dopo aver visitato Campo inizia la discesa che porta a Marniga. Appena entrati a Campo, dovete scendere dal primo sentiero che trovate a destra. Da Marniga si prosegue dritti fino a Castello su strada asfaltata o su brevi tagli lungo piccoli sentieri e mai scendendo sulla strada principale.

S.Antonio delle pontare S.antonio delle pontare und Campo and Campo Dies ist eine einfache, für jeden zugängliche Wanderung entlang der Maultierpfade und Wege von Brenzone Sul Garda. Sie fängt in Castello an, geht bergauf bis S. Antonio delle Pontare und dann wieder bergauf und bergab zum wohlbekannten Dorf Campo. Einmal dort angekommen, könnt ihr zurück nach Castello gehen, diesmal über Marniga.
This is an easy, accessible to everyone, walk along the mule tracks and paths of Brenzone sul Garda. Starting from Castello, going up until S. Antonio delle Pontare and then again, going up and down, towards the well-known village of Campo. Once you are there, you can go back to Castello, but this time, passing through Marniga.
Diese Strecke beginnt in Castello auf dem Weg links der Kirche, ihr geht bergauf, immer sich links haltend, und folgt schließlich dem Maultierpfad. Geht 45 Minuten weiter und durchquert Ca Perotti. Dieser erste Straßenabschnitt ist recht steil und definitiv der schwerste der Strecke. Sobald ihr S. Antonio delle Pontare erreicht, steigt zur Rechten hinunter, direkt unter der Kirche, der Straßenbeschilderung Richtung Campo folgend.
This trail begins from Castello taking the pathway on the left of the church, keep going up, always on the left, and finally follow the mule track. Keep walking for 45 minutes passing through Cà Perotti. This first stretch of road is quite steep and it is definetely the hardest of the all trail.
Am Ende dieses Abstieges folgt ihr dem Maultierpfad Richtung Campo. Diesmal ist der Abstieg recht kurz und einfach. Nachdem ihr Campo besucht habt nehmt ihr die Straße nach Marniga. Am Eingang von Campo nehmt ihr den ersten Weg rechts Geht von hier geradewegs von Marniga nach Castello, indem ihr entweder der geteerten Straße folgt oder aber die Abkürzungen über die kleinen Pfade nehmt, ohne auf die Hauptstraße zu wechseln.
When you arrive in S. Antonio delle Pontare climb down on the right , just below the church, following the road directions for Campo. At the end of the descent, go up on the mule track towards Campo. This time the descent is quite short and easy. Once you have visited Campo, you can take the road for Marniga. As soon as you enter in the village of Campo, take the first path you find on the right. Go straight from Marniga till Castello following either the paved road or the short cuts along the tiny pathways without going down on the main road.

OLIO EXTRA VERGINE DI OLIVA
Via Vespucci, 6 Castelletto di Brenzone Tel. 0039 045 7430251 Ai limiti estremi della conservazione della specie (è il luogo più a Nord che consente la presenza dell’olivo), nella suggestiva cornice del lago di Garda, appena intravisto dai frettolosi turisti ed assai apprezzato da quanti sono ormai di casa nell’area, vive e fruttifica l’olivo. La raccolta delle olive viene fatta a mano, con metodo della brucatura e consegnate per la macina nel più breve tempo possibile per essere frante, con la tradizionale spremitura a freddo. L’olio extravergine di Oliva Garda, riconosciuto D.O.P. dalla CEE nel 1997, è tutelato da un organismo di controllo voluto dai produttori. E’ tra i migliori in Italia. Presenta un’acidità di acido oleico inferiore a 0,60% e mantiene uno stato di freschezza a distanza di diversi mesi dalla data di produzione. Si tratta di un olio organoletticamente eccellente e merceologicamente pregevole, in quanto esente da residui antiparassitari, rigorosamente controllato da una commissione di esperti che periodicamente assaggiano e rendono idoneo il prodotto. Conosciuto da secoli come il migliore condimento se usato a freddo, questo olio extravergine di oliva è anche apprezzato in cucina per la sua resistenza ad alte temperature (220°C) durante la cottura. In medicina, il suo uso quotidiano è ritenuto garanzia di buona circolazione del sangue, dato il suo potere di abbassamento del colesterolo.. 74

Das “olio extravergine”, das naturreine Olivenöl von Brenzone, wird aus den dort wachsenden und von Hand geernteten Oliven kaltgepresst. Es ist eines der qualitativ am höchsten klassifizierten Olivenöle Italiens, auf Grund seines freien Säuregehaltes, der unter 1% liegt (durchschnittlich 0,6% Ölsäure - je niedriger der Säuregehalt ist, desto besser ist das Öl). Dieses Olivenöl „extravergine“ Garda DOP wird regelmäßig von einem Sachverständigenausschuß auf dessen Übereinstimmung mit den entsprechenden Vorschriften hin kontrolliert.

The local oil is in fact one of the best olive oils of Italy, thanks to its delicate taste that makes it particularly advisable for fish. It is excellent if used uncooked. Der Verband ist ein freiwilliger Zusammenschluss, welcher das Auszeichnungsetikett allein den Ölen aus ganz ausgesuchten Oliven verleiht, nämlich nur solchen, die an den zum Seeufer hin liegenden Hängen wachsen und die dann, bei ihrem richtigen Reifungsgrad angelangt, nach traditionellen Systemen kaltgepresst werden. Um sich mit dem Etikett des „Consorzio“ schmücken zu können, müssen die Olivenöle der Riviera in jedem Falle eine spezielle Probierprobe über sich ergehen lassen. Dabei wird das Olivenöl von Brenzone in Hinsicht auf den Geschmack als ausgezeichnet und warenkundlich wertvoll eingestuft, da es als “ökologisch sauber” bezeichnet wird: es ist frei von Rückständen der Schändlingsbekämpfungsmittel. 75

PREPARAZIONE In un paiolo di rame portate ad ebollizione l’acqua, salate e versate la farina a pioggia, senza mai smettere di mescolare. La cottura deve aggirarsi intorno ai 40 minuti. A parte avrete già tagliato a pezzettini il formaggio (dolce e stagionato), con un pizzico di pepe. Aggiungetelo lentamente alla polenta e, sempre mescolando, unite anche l’olio di Brenzone sul Garda fino all’assorbimento completo. Versate in una terrina. Si consuma da solo. Ingredienti 3 lt. acqua - 700 gr farina gialla - 1200 gr formaggio assortito - 400 gr olio d’oliva di Brenzone sul G. sale e pepe
POLENTA MIT KäSE Traditionelle Rezepte
ZUBEREITUNG In einem Kupferkessel Wasser kochen, salzen und das Mehl hinzugeben, ohne mit dem Umrühren aufzuhören. Etwa 40 Minuten kochen lassen. Nebenbei haben Sie bereits den Käse in kleine Stücke zugeschnitten (süß und pikant) und mit Pfeffer und Zimt bestreut. Fügen Sie langsam alles in die Polenta unter ständigem Rühren ein und vermischen Sie auch das Öl aus Brenzone sul Garda bis zur vollständigen Absorption. Geben Sie alles in eine Schüssel, es wird allein gegessen. Zutaten 3l Wasser - 700 gr Maismehl - 1200 gr sortierter Käse - 400 gr Olivenöl aus Brenzone sul G. - Salz und Pfeffer
POLENTA WITH CHEESES Traditional Recipes
PREPARATION Boil the water in a copper pot, add the salt and pour the corn flour mixing continually. Keep boiling it for at least 40 minutes. Cut the cheeses in small pieces (spicy cheese and savoury cheese) scattering over pepper and cinnamon and then add it slowly to polenta mixing uninterruptedly. Put in addition the olive oil from Brenzone sul Garda mixing until it absorbs. Pour it in a normal bowl and serve it. Ingredienti per 4 persone: 320 gr. di spaghetti (meglio bigoi al torchio) - 4 filetti di sardina sott’olio - 1 dl di olio extravergine del Garda - uno spicchio d’aglio
Ingredienti per 6 persone: 500 g farina bianca - 250 g farina gialla - un bicchiere olio di oliva - 4 cucchiai da tavola di zucchero latte quanto basta per l’impasto - 1 cucchiaino di bicarbonato - sale quanto basta
Bigoi con le sarde Traditionelle Rezepte
ZUBEREITUNG Die Sardinenfilets abttocken und in kleine Stücke schneiden. Ein wenig Olivenöl mit der Knoblauchzehe und den Sardinen in einem Topf erhitzen. Alles für ca. 10 Minuten kochen lassen. Die Knoblauchzehe herausnehmen; das Feur ausschalten und kaltes Olivenöl hinzufügen. Die Spaghetti in Salzwasser kochen, abgießen und sie dann mit der Soße anmachen.

ZUBEREITUNG Das Mehl in eine große Schüssel geben und eine Mulde in das Mehl drücken; in die Mulde das Maismehl, Zucker, Olivenöl, Salz, Bicarbonat hineingeben. Die Milch aufkochen lassen und langsam nach Bedarf in den Topf mit den anderen Zutaten geben und alles mischen. Die Mischung in 6 Stücke teilen und jedes Stück mit der Hand flachdrücken. Im Kamin grillen für ca. 3-4 Minuten und zwischendurch wenden.
Zutaten für 4 Personen: 320 g Spaghetti oder “Bigoli” - 4 Sardinenfilets in Olivenöl - 1 dl Olivenöl - 1 Knoblauchzehe

PREPARAZIONE Scolate i filetti di sardina dall’olio e tagliateli a pezzetti. In una padella, scaldate parte dell’olio extravergine, aggiungete lo spicchio d’aglio tagliato a rondelle e quindi le sardine e cuocete per circa 10 minuti lentamente. Togliete l’aglio, spegnete il fuoco e aggiungete il rimanente olio crudo. Cuocete i bigoi in abbondante acqua salata, scolateli, metteteli in una pirofila e condite con la salsa.
PREPARAZIONE Mettere in un contenitore la farina bianca lasciando un foro al centro dove aggiungerete la farina gialla, il sale, il bicarbonato, l’olio di oliva e lo zucchero. Nel frattempo scaldare il latte fino a bollitura e unirlo piano piano agli ingredienti nel contenitore amalgamando il tutto. Dividere l’impasto in 6 parti, schiacciare ogni parte con il palmo della mano e punzecchiarlo con una forchetta. Cuocere nel camino con solo brace su una graticola per circa 3-4 min controllando la cottura e girando la focaccia più volte fino che non risulti ben dorata.

SAN BIGOI NICOLA CON AD LE SARDE ASSENZA
PREPARATION Drain the 4 fillets of sardines from the oil and cut them in small pieces. Warm a part of the extra virgin olive oil in a pot and add the clove of garlic cut into small round shapes, and then add the sardines. Cook it at a slow flame for 10 minutes. Remove the clove of garlic, turn off the flame and add the remaining olive oil. Cook the spaghetti in salted water, drain them, put them in a pot and add the sardine sauce.
