In den Bergen Tirols werden von einem kleinen Familienbetrieb hochwertige und sehr leichte Brillenfassungen aus Holz, Bambus und Holz - Steinkombination in Handarbeit hergestellt. Ein Schwerpunkt der Firma ROLF besteht darin, Trends im Design zu setzen und neue Ideen zu verwirklichen. Die ROLF Forschungund Entwicklungsabteilung erarbeitete ein neuartiges Brillengelenk aus Holz und ein spezielles Verglasungssystem. ROLF Brillenfassungen kommen ohne Schrauben und Metall aus und sind aufgrund einer speziellen Oberflächenbehandlung sehr pflegeleicht. Die Fassungen werden in der eigenen Manufaktur in Tirol in vielen Arbeitsschritten von Hand gefertigt.

A small, family-run business situated in the heart of the Tyrollean Alps, ROLF Spectacles produces hand-made, lightweight wooden, bamboo and combined wood-stone eyeglass frames. One of ROLF’s aims is to set new trends in design and to turn new and innovative ideas for spectacles into reality. The ROLF collection is produced completely out of natural materials and without any metal parts nor screws, and the frames are easy-care because of a special surface treatment. For ROLF’s line of eyewear, the research and development team has created a new and innovative hinge and utilizes the specialized ROLF-lens-system. To ensure that the high quality standards are met, each ROLF frame is produced in many work steps by hand on their own production line in Weissenbach, Tirol.

Die Firma ROLF wurde von Roland Wolf und Marija Iljazovic im gegründet. Die Geschwister der beiden Gründer, Christian Wolf und Martin Iljazovic bereichern die Gesellschaft mit ihren jeweiligen Kompetenzen.

ROLF was founded by Roland Wolf and Marija Iljazovic, who both apply their extensive optometrist’s knowledge and experience in the field to this project. ROLF‘s team is enriched through the founder‘s siblings, Christian Wolf and Martin Iljazovic.

ROLF produziert alles hausintern und eine Auslagerung der Produktion kommt nicht in Frage. Die Idee ist mehr Zeit und Liebe den Produkten zu schenken und etwas persönliches zu transportieren.

ROLF produces everything in house, and an outsourcing of manufacturing is out of the question. The main idea is to provide more time and attention to the products, and therefore transport something personal.

Bei der Firma ROLF werden nicht nur die Brillen designt – vom Samplekoffer bis zum Messestand wird selbst Hand bei der Gestaltung und Herstellung angelegt.

ROLF not only produces and designs eyewear frames – but also the sample cases, photos and trade show booth are conceived and produced by the team.

ROLF Bambusfassungen werden aus dem Werkstoff Bambus hergestellt. Die karamellfarbene Oberfläche wird mit Wasserdampf erzeugt, der den enthaltenen Zucker im Bambus verbrennt. Durch die spezielle Herstellung des Bambusfurniers entsteht ein schmaleres Linienspiel mit etwas schwächer hervortretenden Bambusknoten. ROLF Bambusfassungen überzeugen besonders durch ihre fein gezeichnete und glatte Oberflächenstruktur. Wie jede ROLF Fassung können auch Bambusbrillen mit Büffelhornbügelenden ausgestattet werden.

ROLF bamboo frames are made out of bamboo – an environmentally-friendly material used by various industries over centuries. The caramel-colored surface is produced by water-vapour burning the sugar contained in the bamboo. Due to this special production method, a fine characteristic line with discreet bamboo knots is attained. ROLF’s bamboo frames will satisfy their wearers with their finely marked and smooth surface. Like every other ROLF frame, the bamboo frames can also be fitted with buffalo horn temple tips.

ROLF woodstone Brillen werden aus echtem Steinfurnier aus spaltbarem Schiefergestein und Holz hergestellt. Abweichungen in Farbe und Struktur sind aufgrund der Einzigartigkeit des Naturprodukts normal und gewollt.

ROLF Woodstone eyeglass frames are made out of shale stone veneer and wood. Variations in color and texture are normal and intentional due to the uniqueness of the natural product.

Zwischen Rohling und fertiger Brille liegen 78 Arbeitsschritte. Mehrere Stunden Arbeit und hohes handwerkliches Geschick sind von Nöten, um eine Rolf Brille zu fertigen. Insbesondere Schleifarbeiten, welche hohe Konzentration und Genauigkeit voraussetzen, werden von geübten Händen durchgeführt.

There are 78 working steps between the blank to completed eyeglass frame. Crafting a pair of ROLF glasses require numerous hours of handwork and a high degree of craftsmanship. The sanding stages require much concentration and precision, which we leave to experienced hands.
