Aufbau und Inhalte der Fachprüfung: VO: History of British Literature VO: History of American Literature VO: Civilisation of the British Isles VO: North American Civilization PS: Understanding Fiction PS: Understanding Poetry PS: Understanding Drama and Film

Art der Fragestellung und der erwarteten Antworten: Die Prüfung besteht aus einem Essay zu einer Textstelle aus einem der gekennzeichneten Romane, Dramen oder Gedichte aus der Leseliste. Dieser Essay soll ca. 500 Wörter umfassen. Bei der Bewertung wird auf die korrekte Anwendung literaturwissenschaftlicher Methoden und Termini, auf inhaltliche Kohärenz, logischen Aufbau und Argumentationsstruktur, sprachliche Ausformulierung und korrekte Zitierweise geachtet. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit gilt dem historischen Kontext der Textstelle. Der Essay wird mit 100 Punkten benotet. Für die positive Absolvierung der Prüfung müssen 60 Punkte erreicht werden.
