Wenn Roboter Cocktails mixen – B3 Dialog zwischen Wissenschaft und Kunst (Frankfurt/Main, 31. August 2015) Sie sind überall. In Fabrikhallen, in Krankenhäusern. Sie spielen Schach oder Fußball, machen als Killerdrohne Angst und sollen künftig sogar die Altenpflege übernehmen. Roboter und damit verbunden das Thema Künstliche Intelligenz beherrschen die Debatte über die Zukunft der Menschheit.

Künstliche Wesen aller Art haben in Literatur, bildender Kunst und natürlich im Film eine lange Tradition. Hier reicht die Linie von der Maria in Fritz Langs Metropolis über den Terminator bis hin zu Scarlett Johannson als Samantha in „Her“. Getreu ihres Mottos „Expanded Senses. Mit allen Sinnen erleben und Grenzen verschieben“ hat die B3 eine Reihe von Vordenkern auf diesem Themenfeld eingeladen, die Wechselbeziehungen zwischen Mensch, Kultur und Technik zu diskutieren:

Moran Cerf (USA) ist einer der führenden Neurowissenschaftler der Welt. Eines seiner Hauptanliegen ist die Steuerung von Maschinen via menschliche Gedanken. Neben seinen Professuren an der Kellogg School of Management sowie am UCLA Fachbereich für Neurochirurgie leitet er am American Film Institute einen Drehbuchkurs, der sich mit Wissenschaft im Film beschäftigt.

Er inszenierte das erste von Robotern und Menschen gemeinsam gespielte Theaterstück und gründete eine Roboter-Mensch-Jazzformation. 9.10., Lecture: Expanded Senses and other dimensions - Hacking the brain mit Moran Cerf; 14.00 - 15.00 Uhr; Museum Angewandte Kunst, Vortragsraum

Lior Zalmanson (Israel) ist Gründer und Direktor von Print Screen, dem International Digital Arts and Culture Festival in Holon, Israel. Die von ihm ins Leben gerufene kulturell-akademische Konferenz „Robots in Human Society“ untersucht die Auswirkungen der Robotik aus sozialer und gesellschaftlicher Sicht. 8.10.; Panel Audience Design mit Clare Langan und Lior Zalmanson; 15.00 - 16.00 Uhr; Villa Metzler, weißer Salon

Einen eher ironischen Ansatz wählte der österreichische Autor, Regisseur und Programmierer Johannes Grenzfurther (Österreich). Sein Projekt ROBÖXOTICA - Festival für Cocktailrobotik hat sich die Entwicklung Cocktail mixender Roboter

zum Ziel gesetzt. Internationale Gäste aus Technik, Wissenschaft und Kunst setzen sich auf philosophischem Niveau mit Technologie-Hypes, Wissenschaftsgläubigkeit, Techniksoziologie und der historischen Veränderung von Technikpräsentation- und -vermarktung auseinander. 7.10., Speech; Let’s talk about Sex, Techie - About Sexuality & Technology mit Johannes Grenzfurthner; 14.00 - 15.00 Uhr; Museum Angewandte Kunst, Vortragsraum

Über B3 Die zweite Ausgabe der B3 Biennale des bewegten Bildes findet vom 7. bis 11. Oktober 2015 unter dem Leitthema „Expanded Senses. Mit allen Sinnen erleben und Grenzen verschieben“ in Frankfurt und der Rhein-Main-Region statt. Ziel der 2013 gestarteten Biennale ist es, eine breit angelegte interdisziplinäre und genreübergreifende Allianz für das bewegte Bild zu schaffen. Das Debüt 2013 überzeugte auf Anhieb rund 25.000 Besucher aus zwölf Ländern. Veranstalter der B3 Biennale des bewegten Bildes ist die Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach (HfG).

Die Träger der B3 sind das Hessische Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst (HMWK), die Hessische Landesanstalt für privaten Rundfunk und neue Medien (LPR Hessen) und die Stadt Frankfurt am Main. Gefördert wird die B3 vom Kulturfonds Frankfurt Rhein Main vom Kulturamt sowie von derWirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt. Stifter des B3 Preises BEN für das künstlerische Lebenswerk sind Sylvia und Friedrich von Metzler. Partner sind die Hessische Film-und Medienakademie (hFMA), die Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln, die Central Academy of Fine Arts Beijing (CAFA), das Exzellenzcluster „Die Herausbildung normativer Ordnungen“, Sesc São Paulo, Associação Cultural Videobrasil und die gamescom.

When Robots mix Cocktails – the B3 Dialogue between Science and Art They’re everywhere. In factory halls, in hospitals. They play chess or football, spread fear as killer drones, and in the future should even take over elderly care. Robots and the related topic of artificial intelligence are dominating the debate over the future of humanity.

Artificial intelligence of all kinds has a long tradition in literature, visual art, and film, of course. Here the lines reach from Maria in Fritz Lang’s “Metropolis” to the Terminator, to Scarlett Johannson as Samantha in “Her.” In keeping with its motto, “Expanded Senses,” the B3 has invited a series of progressive thinkers in this field, who will discuss the reciprocal relationship between humans, culture, and technology: Moran Cerf (USA) is one of the world’s leading neuroscientists. One of his main topics in the controlling of machines through human thought. In addition to his

professorship at the Kellogg School of Management as well as at ULCA Department of Neurosurgery, he leads a screenwriting course at the American Film Institute focused on the science of film. He produced the first play enacted together by robots and humans and established a robot-human jazz group. Lior Zalmanson (Israel) is the founder and director of Print Screen, dem International Digital Arts and Culture Festival in Holon, Israel. “Robots in Human Society,” the cultural-academic conference established by Zalmanson, examines the effects of robotics from a social and societal perspective. About B3: The second edition of the B3 Biennale of the Moving Image will take place in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region from October 7-11, 2015 under the motto “Expanded Senses: Experiencing with all senses and shifting boundaries.” The goal of the Biennale, which was started in 2013, is to create a broad-based

interdisciplinary and cross-genre alliance for the moving image. The debut in 2013 was an immediate success, with around 25,000 visitors from twelve countries. The organizer of the B3 Biennale of the Moving Image is the University for Art and Design Offenbach (HfG).
